Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Dental implants are the modern replacement for missing teeth and can give you a smile that you will be happy to show the world. With dental implants, you can eat the foods you like without having to worry about your teeth ending up on your dinner plate.

Orange Coast Cosmetic Dentistry specializes in dental implants and can determine if your missing teeth can benefit from dental implants.

What are Dental Implants?

Made from titanium, dental implants are surgically placed on or in your jawbone and act as replacements for the roots of your teeth. Dental implants are as strong as your own teeth and actually fuse to your jawbone.

Once the implants have healed, Dr. Lindy Beverly will cover the posts with a dental crown made from materials that look and act like your old tooth.

Are Dental Implants Right For Me?

Although advances in dental technology have made dental implants possible for nearly everyone, some conditions may prevent a successful dental implant.

Dental Work-According to your cosmetic dentist in Orange County. If you have dental restorations, such as partial or full dentures, or dental bridges, they may need to be replaced or reinforced before your dental implant procedure.

Bone Loss-If you have enough bone where the missing tooth is, dental implants will rarely fail. Patients who still have teeth are most successful, especially if an immediate implant is conducted after the teeth are extracted.

If you do not have enough bone, Dr. Beverly may recommend bone grafting to provide stable support for the dental implant. Patients that have had missing teeth for some time, even if dentures have been used, will still suffer from bone loss.

Medical Problems-If you are on medication or suffer from a medical condition tell your dentist in Orange County. Some medications or health problems can impede the success of your dental implant.

Gum Disease-Gum disease can cause serious problems for dental implants. If you have periodontal disease, more serious than gingivitis, it will need to be treated before your dental implant procedure.

Smoking-Smoking and chewing tobacco can dramatically affect the success or failure of your dental implant. Do your best to give the smokes a boot. If you are having problems, talk to your doctor who may be able to help you quit.

If you have missing teeth, or have been told yours need to go, call or click and schedule a dental implant procedure with Dr. Lindy Beverly and her team from Orange Coast Cosmetic Dentistry. After all, wouldn’t it be great to eat and talk freely again?
